On Wednesday, 24 April middle school students participated in their IMYC Unit #5 Entry Point learning activities. The purpose of the Entry Point is to establish the new unit Big Idea and invite students to consider its significance. The ‘Entry Point’ forms the beginning part of the IMYC Process of Learning, and aims to kick off a new unit of learning in a fun, hands-on and enjoyable way. The 7th graders are working on the UN's Sustainable Development Goal #4 - Quality Education, and are partnering with the Read to Grow foundation. By donating books to this organization, you are giving another child somewhere in the world an opportunity to learn.
In order to demonstrate the Big Idea, "Things are more stable when different elements are in the correct or best possible proportions", grade 6 students made a number of things such as a bridge made of spaghetti, Guacamole and Smoothies! The different learning activities provided an engaging and exciting experience to introduce the students to their new unit, Balance, based around the Big Idea.
