The right kind of praise can boost confidence and motivation in our children, used correctly it can inspire children to be more cooperative, persistent and hardworking. However, if a child feels it is undeserved or insincere, they can become worried when challenged, or afraid of failure if they’ve always been told “you’re so smart”. Helping our children to resist the temptation to quit or get easily frustrated / overwhelmed with academic (or other) tasks can be learned. Learning to wait for the things they want will lead to the ability to resist unhealthy habits and avoid self-indulgence.
When every second counts, whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive - learn how to respond to unresponsiveness, CPR and AED, choking, severe bleeding and seizures, fits, convulsions. Get hands-on practice doing CPR on an infant (dummy) etc.
