WHAT EXCITES YOU THE MOST ABOUT JOINING NAS ABU DHABI?

I’m excited to join this exceptional school, in a multicultural learning environment, and I’m looking forward to becoming the best teacher that I can be for my students. Nord Anglia schools have a wonderful reputation for empowering and supporting young children in their learning, and I’m eager to be a part of this amazing community and teaching environment. I’m passionate about education, and I want to share my knowledge and skills with my pupils, and expertise with my colleagues.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ONCE THE SCHOOL OFFICIALLY OPENS IN AUGUST?

I can’t wait to meet my class, parents and colleagues, and I’m also very excited to explore the new campus and to check out the amazing sports facilities, as well as the new libraries. One of the most exciting parts of my job as a teacher is getting to know my students and their interests at the beginning of the academic year. I’m looking forward to using all of the facilities to further my students’ learning, and to utilise these facilities to nurture a love of learning in the children.

WHAT HOBBIES DO YOU HAVE? WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THEM?

I love being active, and really enjoy going for walks and runs - I recently joined a tag rugby team! I’m also passionate about Irish dancing and music - over the years, I’ve competed in many dancing competitions.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO, AND WHY?

I have a love for travelling and making new memories and friends while exploring different cultures and traditions. I feel very grateful to have opportunities to travel – travelling brings me so much joy. I feel that the experiences gained while travelling benefits my teaching methodologies and the learning experiences of children in my classroom.

ABOUT ORLA MCCANN, PRIMARY TEACHER.

Teaching is a role Orla feels she was born to be in. She graduated from Mary Immaculate College in Ireland with a Bachelor of Education degree, and also has a specialisation in Early Childhood Education - this specialisation ignited her passion in this area.

With experience teaching in Europe and the Middle East, Orla thrives in the classroom environment, connecting with new students and their families. She values play-based learning, and supporting the holistic development of all children.
