Early years

Our Early Years programme focuses on putting our students at the centre of their own learning. Known as the Reggio Emilia approach, your child will be valued as a distinct individual in our classroom, who discovers themselves and the world through self-directed play.

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS)
The EYFS curriculum from the UK provides a robust, well-rounded learning framework. Its three overarching areas – Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, and Physical Development – encourages every child to develop in their own way. We complement these by stimulating your child’s growth in the specific areas of Literacy, Numeracy, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

Our Primary programme offers young students a dynamic education that jumpstarts their growth as well-rounded, independent thinkers. Through a variety of experiences, they apply an assortment of skills and become confident at asking questions, challenging their own thoughts and ideas, and owning what they know.

ENGLISH NATIONAL CURRICULUM AND INTERNATIONAL PRIMARY CURRICULUM (IPC)
We use a blend of the English National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) so that learning at NAS Jakarta is rigorous, current, and globally focused. We teach traditional subjects from the English National Curriculum while using the IPC in cross-curricular, thematic ways. This unique combination not only covers English and maths, but encourages meaningful connections to the world across subjects like science, geography, history, ICT, art, music, technology, society, and physical education (PE).

Student Voice

At NAS Jakarta, we empower students of all year groups to be heard, have the confidence to take initiative, and the courage to share their thoughts and opinions. Our elected Student Voice representatives connect with their peers to help shape our school community.

STUDENT VOICE

Our Student Voice representatives enrich the overall educational experience by listening to their peers, acting on initiatives, and confidently sharing their opinions. This helps to create a more connected learning environment for everyone. And they're a force to be reckoned with!

To date, they’ve directly influenced the design and implementation of our new House system, playground rules, and community projects with local organisations. They've also taken the lead on programmes about recycling in the local kampung and have even collected materials and resources to donate to a local, under-resourced kindergarten.

The performing arts

At NAS Jakarta, we’re passionate about the performing arts. Bolstered by our collaboration with The Juilliard School – a world leader in performing arts education – dance, drama, and music at our school will encourage your child to think innovatively and develop into well-rounded global citizens. That’s because the performing arts nurture many versatile skills, from the creative use of technologies to teamwork. And most importantly, the arts will give your child the confidence to flourish in their expression.

Sport

Physical activity is an important part of every child’s personal development. As well as keeping students fit and healthy, team and individual sports are an exciting opportunity for them to nurture healthy lifelong skills and habits. From swimming and football, to badminton and gymnastics, your child will build the physical, technical, and teamwork skills to participate with confidence competitively and recreationally.

Our House system encourages students to have fun with their friends across year groups, as they engage in playful activities that connect our entire community. Every child belongs to one of four Houses, and together as a team, they collaborate in fun challenges that spark healthy competition.
