Adventure Through the Camera Lens

The Global Classroom has challenged our students to capture the spirit of adventure in this summer’s photography competition.

Adventure Through the Camera Lens The Global Classroom has challenged our students to capture the spirit of adventure in this summer’s photography competition.

The Global Classroom has challenged our students to capture the spirit of adventure in this summer’s photography competition.

Budding photographers from our schools around the world will be busy snapping photos over the summer holidays for the chance to have their work published in the Global Classroom 2015 calendar, which is shared with our schools, students and friends around the world.

We have challeneged students from Year 4 to 13 to take a photograph which caputures the theme of 'adventure'. Our students can interpret the theme in any way they choose. Eager exploration, cultural discovery, daring quests, bold photographic styles, unforgettable encounters, or adventurous friends and family, we encourage them to let their imaginations run wild. Students should upload their work to the Global Classroom before the 26th September, together with a brief explanation of how it illustrates the theme.

All our entrants' work will appear in an online gallery where their fellow students and a panel of judges will vote for their favourite image based upon how well it fits the theme, the technical composition of the photograph and the emotional response it evokes. The winning photographs will be drawn from three age groups, Years 4 – 6, Years 7 –9 and Years 10 –13.

Photography offers a range of valuable learning opportunities for students, encouraging them to be creative, imaginative and plan how to communicate their ideas visually.

The competition builds upon the success of last year's contest which saw our secondary students illustrate 'our wonderful world' in their photographs. The beautiful photograph above, 'Equus' by by Veronika Rollova at The British International School Bratislava, was the 2014 calendar cover.

Good luck and happy snapping!
