Three weeks ago, the Primary football team (mixed) played a tournament at ISPP where they played 3 games and won 2 of them. Some standout performances were made by individuals witha team ethic showing very well. There will be more opportunities coming during the rest of the year for our youngest athletes in football and other sports.
Senior Volleyball (ages 15-19) saw 5 NISC teams compete across 3 venues for the annual ISSAPP championships. Coach Coles and Coach McCutchan took the A squads to ISPP, whilst Coach K took his B Girls to CIS and Coach Fili had the B Boys here at NISC.
Of the 4 different categories, NISC reached the final in 3 of them, winning two. GirlsA lost to Logos in the final with the Boys A triumphing earlier in the day against ISPP. Hosting here, the Boys B team won their competition against a resolute Paragon team in a sudden death deciding 3rd set. Some real nail-biting games were had by our teams over the course of the competition.
Congratulations go to our players and coaches who thoroughly enjoyed the process, from training through to competition. We sincerely hope all of our athletes sign up for Season 2 sports.
Last weekend saw the Junior Basketball teams take part in their ISSAPP tournament hosted by NISC and ISPP respectively. Coach Austin took the A squads to ISPP with his assistant Coach Fili, whilst Coach Cai and Coach Khad the B Boys here at NISC.
The B Boys team narrowly lost 1 game by 1 point to finish 5th in their competition whilst the Girls A lost a tight final against their hosts, ISPP. The Boys A avenged their girls defeat by beating the hosts, ISPP this time in a one sided final. Well done to all and a huge thanks to all the coaches involved in all the sports.

Last week, our second annual NISC Cup kicked off, with four schools and over one hundred students facing off to see who would be taking home the silverware on offer in separate boys’ and girls’ competitions. Last year CIA girls’ team won a thrilling final and were hoping that the cup would be returning to their school for a second year in a row, while our own NISC boys’ team were hoping to retain their hard won 2023 title.
The other week I was in Bangkok at the ASAC Basketball Tournament that is open for Grade 6 – 8 students from 9 competing schools across South East Asia. It gave me some time to reflect on the benefits and opportunities that our Northbridge students can access that will develop them holistically and physically.
