Class of 2027 Off to a Strong Start

By Holly Garner

For the Class of 2027, the journey to higher education began more than two years ago. Through careful planning, personalised guidance, and thoughtful exploration of future pathways, our students have been preparing for one of the most significant milestones of their educational journey. Today, that preparation is already bearing fruit, with university applications submitted and early offers beginning to arrive.
Nearly 20 Northbridge seniors have already applied to universities in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and we are delighted to celebrate some early successes. One student has received an offer from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, while two others have secured conditional offers from King's College London and the University of Leeds. Given their strong academic performance, we are confident they are well placed to meet the conditions of these offers.
Reaching for the World's Leading Universities
Students have also submitted applications to some of the world's most prestigious institutions, including Oxford, Cambridge, MIT, Imperial College London, and the University of Chicago. With applications expected across more than a dozen countries, the Class of 2027 is demonstrating the global ambition and academic excellence that define the Northbridge community.
These applications span a broad range of disciplines, reflecting the diverse interests and aspirations of our students. From applied mathematics, engineering, and medicine to business, economics, the humanities, and the arts, each student is pursuing a pathway aligned with their unique strengths, passions, and future goals.
Thriving in an Increasingly Competitive Environment
The global university admissions landscape continues to become more competitive. More students are pursuing higher education, and applicants are generally applying to a greater number of institutions than ever before, while the number of available places has remained relatively stable.
As a result, universities are looking beyond academic results alone. They seek students who not only excel in the classroom but also demonstrate curiosity, resilience, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive contribution to their communities.
At Northbridge, students benefit from an educational experience specifically designed to nurture these qualities. Through the International Baccalaureate programme, personalised university counselling, and a wide range of co-curricular opportunities, students develop the academic foundation, character, and confidence needed to stand out in a highly competitive admissions landscape.
A Truly Global Outlook
While traditional destinations such as Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States remain popular choices, many students are also exploring opportunities across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and beyond. This global outlook reflects both the international nature of our school community and our commitment to helping every student find the university and pathway that best matches their ambitions.
By encouraging students to consider a wide range of options, we help them discover opportunities that align with their academic interests, career aspirations, and personal goals.
Connecting Students with Universities Around the World
An important part of the university preparation process is providing students with direct access to higher education institutions and admissions experts.
This semester, Northbridge has welcomed representatives from Boston University, the University of Ottawa, Swiss Hospitality Management Schools, and Hult International Business School. These visits have given students valuable opportunities to learn more about programmes, admissions requirements, scholarships, and campus life.
We look forward to welcoming even more university representatives in the coming weeks. Scheduled visits from Glion Institute of Higher Education, the University of British Columbia, the University of Melbourne, Swiss Education Group, and an Irish university admissions specialist will provide students with further insights into higher education opportunities around the world.
Supporting Every Student's Next Step
At Northbridge, university guidance is not something that begins in a student's final year of school. It is a personalised, long-term process that starts early, helping students explore their interests, develop their strengths, and make informed decisions about their future.
As the Class of 2027 progresses through the application season, we are incredibly proud of their ambition, determination, and achievements. Their early success reflects not only years of hard work, but also the confidence to pursue opportunities on a global stage.
We look forward to celebrating many more offers, acceptances, and success stories in the months ahead.
