Enter the Global Classroom Visual Arts Competition

16 February 2017

Calling all BIS artists… welcome to this year’s visual arts competition!

Students at BIS Abu Dhabi, along with the Nord Anglia Education network of schools, have been invited to take part in creating art inspired by one of the winning Creative Writing Competition entries. Selected artworks will be published in the Creative Writing & Visual Arts Anthology 2016-17.

  • visual arts

To enter, students are asked to create a piece of art to illustrate a creative writing piece, using any kind of visual arts they wish such as painting, drawing, stamp, sculpture, collage, digital art, photography or anything else! It is not just limited to illustrations and we encourage students to explore different kinds of art to represent the creative writing pieces.

Selected artworks will be published in the Creative Writing & Visual Arts Anthology 2016-17 alongside the Creative Writing pieces by which they are inspired by, and all students will earn a certificate of participation.

The learning focus for the visual arts competition encourages students to use written stimuli to inspire a piece of visual art whilst exploring different art media in order to develop their skills.

Who can join?

In order to ensure a fair competition, there are four separate categories in which students can participate:

  • Under 8 (EYFS – up to and including year 3)
  • Age 8-11 (years 4-6)
  • Age 11-14 (years 7-9)
  • Age 14-18 (years 10-13)

Each student can submit one entry and it must be their own work.

How do I sign up?

  1. Log into Global Campus Online and go to the relevant age area. Click on the visual arts competition button.
  2. Join the competition by clicking the yellow button and answer a few short questions. This will unlock the rest of the competition area.
  3. Choose a creative writing story to illustrate, and then create your art work!

Primary school students should speak with their classroom teacher who will be able sign up on their behalf.

How do I submit my work?

Primary School: Students should submit their work to their class teacher who will take it from there.

Secondary School: Students should submit their work to their Art teacher.

When do I have to submit my work by?

Students must submit their work to their teacher before Tuesday 14th March 2017.
