After studying at Stirling University in Scotland and gaining a BA in Sports Science, I then completed my PGCE by doing a School Centred Initial Teacher Training Programme (SCITT) at High Force Education in Barnard Castle, North East England. After gaining my teaching qualification I taught at Barley Fields School in Ingleby Barwick, UK, for three years and for two of those years I was a Year 4 teacher.
Whilst working at Barley Fields School, I was also P.E Subject Leader which involved planning and assessing the overall P.E curriculum throughout the whole school, contacting and organising local coaches to come into school to deliver PE lessons both during and after school. I was also in charge of planning and organising the annual School Sports Day and Health and Fitness Week. Last year, I gained a Community Sports Leader award for Archery which qualifies me to coach children in this sport.
I have family who are living and working in the UAE and it is through my visits to Abu Dhabi that I now have achieved my aspirations to live and work in the UAE together with my husband. I am very much enjoying being a part of The British International School Abu Dhabi and developing my teaching career by working in a multi-cultural school.
I am a fun, lively, outgoing person who enjoys socialising and meeting new people. I thoroughly enjoy taking part in a range of different types of sports, but my passion lies with swimming as I spent most of my youth competing as a National Championship swimmer. I definitely take advantage of the outdoor lifestyle that Abu Dhabi has to offer. I also love to travel and to see and experience different countries and their cultures.
