After completing my PGCE in 2015, I immediately moved to Vienna with my family and worked at the Danube International School as an English teacher working with EAL children throughout the elementary school. Upon returning to England, I worked in KS2 at schools in Derbyshire. I have, in the past, also held various positions within schools in the United States, Australia and the UK.
Prior to having my own children, I worked in design but decided to train as a teacher after volunteering in my own children’s classrooms. I was asked to be a teaching assistant and then quickly realised that teaching was what I wanted to do. I love interacting with the children in my classes, building their confidence and seeing their enthusiasm for learning.
With a background in art and design, I particularly enjoy encouraging children to explore their creativity without feeling self-conscious or being too precious with their artwork.
When researching schools for my own children, I was attracted to the warm, friendly and family feel of BIS Abu Dhabi. That is why we chose the school for them and why I decided to apply when a position became available.
I relish the opportunity to travel and explore new places with my family, especially if there is some wildlife to see. I enjoy walking/hiking (with my dog), running, swimming and yoga. I love to visit art galleries and exhibitions and have a particular interest in lino printing. I also indulge in several aspects of textile creation and manipulation including sewing, printing and knitting.
