Sas (Frances) Clarke

Year 5 Teacher

Ms Clarke graduated with a BA Hons in French with Development Studies from the University of Sussex, and was then awarded a PGCE with French Specialism at Masters level from the University of Greenwich.

I completed my first degree at the University of Sussex, graduating with a BA Hons in French with Development Studies and then decided to embark on a career in teaching and was awarded a PGCE with French Specialism at Masters level from the University of Greenwich. I have a diverse background in education, ranging from teaching in the UK and abroad and internationalism, global awareness and languages are my main interests. At my last school I achieved accreditation for the International School Award; participated in a Global Schools Partnership exchange programme with a primary school in Nigeria and led MFL across the school, which also included organising and leading residential school journeys to France.

I believe that providing an international dimension to the curriculum is essential in order to allow both teachers and pupils alike to gain a new perspective on the world and the skills to work in a global economy.

I have a background in leadership as Upper School Phase Leader in a large, culturally diverse junior school in South East London. Working as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and leading 8 classes across years 5 and 6, I was able to implement high impact teaching and learning strategies to promote maximum progress for all pupils and develop an innovative and engaging curriculum. As a practitioner, I believe strongly that education is on-going, not solely academic and applies to the development of the whole child.

I’m friendly, sociable and love to seize any opportunity that comes my way. With an adventurous spirit and a thirst for new experiences, I enjoy experiencing what Abu Dhabi and the UAE have to offer and look forward in taking my first steps in learning Arabic. I’m passionate about diving and photography.
