Having worked for ten years in the community sector as a media and communications specialist, I took the decision to return to University to gain a teaching qualification. I did this, largely because one of the agencies with which I was employed put me in contact with young people; I began to enjoy helping and communicating with them more than my actual responsibilities in my work role.
Joining the teaching profession was a great decision that has enabled me to work with young people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Since graduating in 2002, I have worked in schools in Australia (Western Australia and Victoria) both in the private and in the government sector, and I have gained an EAL qualification along with my Master of Education.
My family is from Australia but has enjoyed the privilege of living in Russia and the USA prior to coming to Abu Dhabi. We all love the experience of travelling and meeting new people.
I love sport – both as a spectator and as a participant – but my favourite sport is netball. I am so excited that netball is widely played in the UAE. My other great love is reading and I enjoy nothing more than curling up with a good book.
