As a 13 year old I went on a French exchange to France and fell in love with languages and different cultures, initially French, then German and Spanish. I am fascinated by Arabic and Mandarin, and these are both on my wish list to learn.
I started my teaching career in France teaching English, then returned to the UK to study for a PGCE. I initially worked in Dorset, then Aberdeenshire in Scotland for 7 years, before venturing overseas with my family to work in schools in the UAE, USA and Singapore. I feel fortunate to be able to pursue a career in something that I love and share my passion for languages, cultures and education outside the classroom. I am a Duke of Edinburgh Leader which fits well with my love for the outdoors and the mountains.
In the school holidays, you’ll find me in France with my family, where we have been renovating an old farmhouse in the Loire valley which has become a labour of love for us all. Or in the cooler months in the mountains in RAK or Fujairah, walking, camping or mountain biking and enjoying the outdoors.
