Fresh out of University, I joined the Civil Service and re-trained, of all things, as a linguist specialising in Afghan languages. After training some new recruits myself, I realised that teaching is also a passion of mine and I haven’t looked back since. Having taught German, French and Spanish in Kuwait for 6 years and more recently the Cayman Islands, I am excited to have returned to the region with my family and teach at BIS Abu Dhabi.
With so many online tools to help us study nowadays, I think there has never been a more exciting time to learn another language and I love using these to help students communicate and ignite that spark which will never go out for me. I enjoy promoting languages around the school and getting stuck into school life.
Originally from Manchester in the UK, I have a love of anything from Gregg’s the Bakers, and a desire to one day star in Coronation Street (you can Google these!). In my spare time when I’m not playing ‘tea-sets’ or hide-and-seek with my young daughter, Elodie, I enjoy playing snooker, improving my general knowledge to make me better at quizzes and game shows, and listening to film soundtracks.
I have joined a formidable team, a school with a fine reputation and a country with lots to offer, now I just need to dust off the Arabic books and enjoy this new adventure!
