On completing my Acting Degree in Edinburgh I spent a year travelling the world, experiencing other cultures and widening my perception of the world. On my return to the UK, I worked in professional theatre for three years, eventually making the decision to go back to university and study for my PGDE, I have never looked back!
Since qualifying as a Drama teacher I have taught in a variety of schools in Scotland, North East England and most recently, Dubai. With over nine years of experience as a Head of Drama, I am very excited to have joined the team at BIS Abu Dhabi as we continue to develop the Creative Arts.
One of the great things about the UAE is that it is the centre of travel. My family and I love to explore and now that our son is a little older we are excited to be able to make better use of where we are in the world so that we can have adventures together, experiencing new places, people and cultures.
In addition to reading, keeping active and exploring the world my other great passion is cooking. The place I am happiest, outside of the drama room, is the kitchen. Food gives me great satisfaction and a chance to be creative. To share what I have made, with the people who mean the most to me; my family and friends, makes me very happy.
I have been aware of Nord Anglia Education for a long time and the ethos of the school is one which resonates with me as an educator. I love that the Nord Anglia Schools place a value on the Arts and that they understand how the can enhance the experiences and learning of young people. The one thing about BIS Abu Dhabi that has stood out to me is the sense of community; the friendliness of staff, students and parents is one that I feel sets the school apart. As both a parent of a child that will be attending the school and as a teacher, it is the ‘feel’ of a place that draws me and BIS Abu Dhabi has that.
