Yesterday, the PE department ran four different gymnastics workshops aimed at Foundation and Primary children.
A variety of apparatus was used, including the low and high beams, the tables, the box top, and the mats for floor work. The objective of these sessions was to develop basic movement compositional ideas, whilst combining multiple actions showing control, fluency and precision. There were three main areas including two different balance stations, a roll station and four different jump stations in various degrees of difficulty. Children enjoyed being challenged, especially on the high beam, and one child even learned how to perform a supported hand spring off the box top. This was a great chance for our current and prospective students to challenge themselves in a different way whilst also mixing with others.
