Welcome back to the second half of our first term this academic year.  This last half term was certainly a momentous one for our country of Thailand and people around the world as together we witnessed the cremation of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

I hope everyone had a relaxing break away from school and are ready to resume all the activities and excitement as we head up to Christmas and the 3 weeks holiday that marks the completion of our first term.

Loy Kratong

There is certainly lots going on beginning with Loy Kratong celebrations taking place this Friday, 3rd November.  Primary children will be making special krathongs in school which they will then take home in order to fully enjoy this evening festival with their families. This year we will not be dressing up in traditional Thai costumes as in the past.  Instead, all children are asked to wear their House shirts on Friday.

International Days

On Friday 10th November, we have our Primary International Day which promises to be a truly special event full of wonderful activities happening across the school, including the food hall.  The following week on Friday 17th November, we will be holding another International Day at our High School campus.  There will be a wide range of global topics discussed and investigated by the High School students to mark the spirit of this day.  I hope you will be able to contribute and participate in these two great events which celebrate our rich, diverse cultures and play a significant role in bringing our school community together. More details about the programmes for both days will be sent home over the next two weeks.

International Accreditation

Our school has been awarded full international accreditation by a British foundation called The Education Trust (EDT).  This means that since 2007 we have worked with education specialists who have advised and directed our schools development to ensure we have the highest operating standards in all areas.

In 2015 our school was inspected by EDT and deemed to be outstanding in all areas of management and operation.  These education inspectors perform their audits every three years, and so, another team is due to come to our school in June 2018 to verify that we have maintained the same high standards they reviewed last time. During this inspection, which will be over a week in duration, our school has to present a detailed self-review report in comparison against a set of international standards established by EDT.

This review is an excellent opportunity for us to evaluate how the procedures and processes we originally relied upon in our one campus model have been adapted and altered to fit the new challenges of our current two campus set up.  Furthermore, we will be able to ensure that the services we provide to our entire school community truly meets the international standards of operations and management that the EDT foundation requires of all schools it endorses and accredits.

Next week we shall be welcoming Sally Lane, an Educational Consultant who works for EDT, who will be our key contact as we prepare for the inspection next May-June.  Sally has a long professional career in education, and I know she will give us lots of support and feedback as she visits classrooms to observe our teaching and learning.  We feel confident that she get a real sense of the style and standards of education our students experience.
