I wonder how many people noticed a change that happened in the KS1 Playground over the weekend? Quite a big change but it went unnoticed by a lot of people! Above the climbing frame and covering a large area of the playground we have installed a fabulous new shade sail.
With this in place we can start to fully develop this area to be used especially by the KS1 children.
Last Monday was a very busy day, with new children arriving and being helped to find their classrooms, and an air of excitement across the campus.
Today has been no less exciting, but with the children being well-settled in their new classrooms, it has had a completely different feel to it. Already the children are taking ownership of the areas and playing confidently with teachers and new friends.
In Reception the Shared Area is starting to come to life with teachers setting up role play areas, and children really using their language. In Y1 and Y2 there was a whole range of activities happening - some of which were led by the teachers and others initiated by the children, already in Week 2 taking some responsibility for their own learning.
This week, like last week, saw the entry into school for some of our youngest children. Our staggered intake helps us to give the new children all the time they need to get used to the new environment and support them in making new friends.
With the help of academic staff, school nannies and maids, children who have only been with us for a few days are already starting to learn the routines and say goodbye to mums and dads - some of them for the very first time.
In Mr Paul’s section of the newsletter you will have see that this week we have the Meet the Teacher sessions. The sessions for Foundation Stage and Y1 happened earlier this month but the Y2 session will be on Thursday this week - 31st August.
This will be a chance for you to introduce yourself to the teachers but is not the opportunity for a one-to-one consultation. This will come a little later in the term following the first report.
If you love the pool and exhilarating team sports, water polo might be the best sport you haven’t tried yet. And the timing could not be better, because the Marlins Water Polo training programme at St Andrews International School Bangkok is on the rise. Joining our dynamic team not only offers you a fun and challenging experience, it also provides a clear pathway for improving your skills and competing in local championship leagues.
St Andrews International School Bangkok's International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) and BTEC students recently completed a week of work experience in various companies in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and as far as in Penang, Malaysia. This unique, exciting opportunity allowed the students to step out of their comfort zones and gain direct feedback from a professional environment in the real world.
Are you a new student at St Andrews International School Bangkok looking to dip your toes into the world of swimming? Or perhaps you are a current student who has always wanted to improve your skills in the pool? Then there is no better time than now to join the STA Marlins Swimming Squad. The Marlins Recreational Group is our latest swimming programme, welcoming all beginners on Tuesdays after school.
At the end of each academic year at St Andrews International School Bangkok, our teachers and staff collect unused stationery items across classrooms and departments. These materials, including pencils, glue, scissors, books, and even clothes, are donated to the Baan Nokkamin Foundation, which supports underprivileged children in the suburbs of Bangkok. This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainability by minimising waste and promoting a culture of kindness and social responsibility.
