Find out about Year 4’s excursion to Pranburi for their residential...Air quality has been on our minds, and changes have been enacted as a result...Meet Dash and Dot - Y5’s new coding teacher...Bobo the Whale has landed upon the shores of the small quad.
It was another few days away for me last week as I helped accompany the Y4s on their trip to Pranburi. This was another excellent trip in which our students proved themselves to be perfect ambassadors for the school. The children definitely lived the high live for the duration of their stay at the amazing Evason Resort. This trip is mostly organised by our own staff, with the additional help of some Wild Planet staff who run the orienteering activity. The children got to see life along the Pranburi river as they took a longtail boat to look at the mangroves. They also got to play games- led by their teachers- within the hotel grounds.
The highlight of the trip for me was the talent show. This was a showcase of the huge range of skills and abilities our students possess and it was great to see so many of them get on stage to entertain their friends. I’m sure you’ll join me in saying a huge thank you to Mr Kris and the Year 4 team, along with the LSAs for organising a memorable trip for the students.
With pollution in the city hitting the headlines last week, we at St Andrews have been looking very carefully at the air quality in Bangkok and how it can affect our students and staff. We have re-visited our air pollution policy, which can be seen in the High School section below. Primary children are not able to regulate their activity levels in the same way that older students can, so teachers have to do it for them by reducing time outside, when necessary.

Year 5 have been using Dash and Dot, our new control robots. The students have been building code on the iPads to send their Dash robot around a track on the floor. They have also been given additional challenges such as making a siren sound and recording some audio. This is a challenging activity as the students first build the code and then send their Dash off on the track. When Dash makes a wrong turn, they have to de-bug their code to get him back on track
Bobo the Whale
If you’re popping past the small quad any time over the next few weeks, make sure you stop into have a look at our newest visitor- Bobo the Whale. This installation has been provided to us by the Sang Foundation, a charity whose aim is to raise awareness of the issue of plastic pollution and encourage is to reduce, reuse and recycle. Our students will be adding to work to Bobo over the coming weeks to help raise awareness of this issue
