The St Andrews International School Bangkok Thai Department is pleased to invite the school community to participate in the annual Songkran celebration 2018 on Thursday, 5 April. Various celebratory activities will be organised at both Primary School and High School.

Primary School

In the morning at 8 am, students, parents and staff are invited to join the alms offering at the Primary School.  About 20 monks from the That Thong Temple will be coming to collect alms. The alms offering will take place at two locations; the offering of the Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery to Year 2) will start the line from the school office to the small pool for Early Year students and the offering of KS 2 ( Year 3 – 6) will take place in the football field. At 9:00 – 9:30 the Primary School assembly will take place in Sports Hall. This year the celebration of Songkran in Northern Thailand will be presented at the assembly including the victory drum dance performance and a Northern style traditional procession.

High School

At High School, the alms offering of all High School Key Stages (Year 7 – 13) will be at the football field starting from 9:30 to 10:05. About 14 monks from That Thong Temple will be coming to collect alms. Then the High School Songkran assembly will take place in the Sport Hall on the fourth floor of the Gold Building from 12:00 to 12:35. The celebration of High School Songkran will present the culture of all four regions of Thailand: North, Northeastern, Central and the South including a victory-drum dance performance, the traditional procession of four regions and a dance performance of the ECA Thai Dance club and staff. The Thai Department awards will also be presented to students who produced their Songkran work projects.

Water Play

Later during the day, all students at both the Primary School and High School will join the water celebration through optional water play with friends and teachers.
