We provide insight into our plans for STEAM next academic year...The KS2 production is just around the corner, and our students are hard at work preparing for a fabulous show... Elizabeth Jarmin gave some thoughtful ideas on creating inspired shared learning spaces at Primary School...Choose Kind to make a great St Andrews community.
Next year, we will be introducing STEAM (Science, Technology, engineering, Art & Maths) into the Primary Curriculum. This is already running in High School and This Ms Sarah (Y6) has been appointed our new STEAM Coordinator and will be rolling out this exciting new area of learning in August. However, to whet the students appetites for STEAM, she has decided to roll out a few competitions, the first of which was launched just before the Songkran holiday. This asked the students to design a device that could be used to squirt water during the water play at Songkran. The following students all earned a certificate and valuable house points with their entries.

It’s almost time for the KS2 production. The children have been rehearsing hard since the start of the school year and things are really coming together. Ms Sarah (director) and the other KS2 teachers have been guiding the children along the way. With additional help from Mrs Cherry (choreography) and Ms Alice (music) this should be amazing spectacle.
The performances will take place in the week beginning May 21st. Tickets will be available to reserve soon. There will be some special VIP seats available too, so keep your eyes out for more details.
Last week, Elizabeth Jarman returned to St Andrews to do some consultancy work with our staff, helping better understand how the learning environment impacts on students learning and looking at how to create better communication-friendly spaces in the KS2 shared spaces and classrooms. Around 30 parents attended the Seminar with Elizabeth Jarman on Wednesday morning to hear about the latest brain science regarding the use of sound, light and colour in schools and homes. As well as this, Elizabeth was able to spend some time with a representative team of Year 6 students to discuss the Y6 shared area and how this environment can be developed to create spaces for all learners. There was some great discussion with some very clear themes and ideas shared by the students. We look forward to seeing some of these changes coming from the ideas stage to the physical over the remainder of the term.
This term, we are going to be focusing on a few different aspects of the What Makes A Great St Andrews Community which we are going to be grouping under the theme of Choose Kind. Keep an eye out for more details.
