There were songs and rhymes aplenty in the Nursery Rhyme tent. The Nursery Rhyme Craft competition was nip and tuck. We got dressed up specially, throughout Anti-Bullying week. And Christmas will soon be upon us and is a time of giving. We also have some important health updates!

Nursery Rhyme Week

Last week the whole of the Primary School were involved in the activities for Nursery Rhyme Week. The Nursery Rhyme Tent hosted different teachers and activities each day and it was great to see children of all ages getting involved. In the tent we had singing in different languages, playing musical instruments and using Makaton, and you could hear children singing in the classrooms all through the week. Older children also went to visit younger ones to tell and sing rhymes and there was the difficult judging of the Nursery Rhyme Craft Competition.  Add to that the activities for Anti-Bullying Week and it certainly was a busy one!

RSV Cases in Thailand

For a number of weeks private and government hospitals have been reporting an increased number of paediatric cases of RSV. This is a virus that causes a range of respiratory tract infections. The strain this year is particularly aggressive and a number of children in Foundation Stage and Y1 have been diagnosed.

The school is deep-cleaning on a daily basis when the children have gone home and is cleaning high contact surfaces throughout the day. At the weekend staff are again doing deep-cleans.

We are advising families to avoid taking children to crowded places, especially to places such as soft play centres. And to make sure that you are keeping to the strict routines of hand washing. Please keep your child at home if they are in the slightest bit unwell, and let us know what the doctor diagnoses.

Preparing for Christmas

As is traditional at this time of year, our thoughts turn to people in our local community that are less fortunate than ourselves. This year more than any other there is a huge need for your generosity.

  2. Foundation Stage 3, along with Y1 and Y2 will join us in collecting essential items for the Klong Toei Community. Some examples are shown in the table below.

Collection boxes will be on each floor of the T Building and in the G Block. Donations should not be gift wrapped. Even the smallest donation will be gratefully received.

This year we are having an additional collection, organised by the Thai Team, something that will hopefully make a lot of children very happy. Kroo Yui explains more ...

Dear Parents and Children,

The Thai Department is organizing a donation opportunity for STA families to give to the less fortunate children in the north and northeast of Thailand.

These children are in need of some love and warmth. Unfortunately, they are not able to afford these necessities so we hope we are able to help them out.

If your child has any pre-loved soft toys that they no longer use, we would love to receive them to be given to these children. We ask for you to please donate toys that have been washed and cleaned.

When? - We’re accepting the soft toys from November 23rd – December 18th.

Where? - The donation box will be provided at the S block on the 2nd floor in the shared area in front of Khroo Yui’s classroom (S22).
