Y4 children got their glad rags on and stepped back in time to board the RMS Titanic. Find out the following for Christmas: when and where your Christmas Concert is being held, details of the Primary Christmas Fair and how to give this Christmas.

A Titanic Time in Y4

Last Thursday, the Y4 children got their glad rags on and stepped back in time to board the White Star Line’s flagship RMS Titanic. The previous day, the children were also able to do a virtual tour of the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Museum staff took on the roles of real life passengers and people involved in the construction of the Titanic. They conducted a walkthrough tour which consisted of exploring artefacts from the time of the sinking and subsequent explorations of the wreckage, along with giving the children an insight into what it would have been like to be on board the ship up to, during and after the fateful collision with the iceberg. On Titanic day itself, the day the children undertook a range of activities linked to their work in studying the disaster of the sinking of the Titanic. This included a floating and sinking experiment and a parade in the Drama Studio. The afternoon was rounded off with some elegant tea parties in the classrooms. The Y4 children were entertained by some of our Y6 musicians, who came along to perform and add to the occasion.

KS2 Christmas

Christmas concerts

This year, we will be having separate concerts for each year group in KS2 to help with physical distancing and managing the size of the audience. You are all invited to come along and celebrate Christmas in each of the concerts. The days and times are as follows:

Monday 14th December - Y3 Christmas Concert 8.30 am in the Sports Hall

Monday 14th December - Y4 Christmas Concert 1.10 pm in the Sports Hall
Tuesday 15th December - Y5 Christmas Concert 8.30 am in the Sports Hall

Tuesday 15th December - Y6 Christmas Concert 1.10 pm in the Sports Hall

Primary School Christmas Fair

Usually, the Primary School Christmas Fair falls on the day of the concerts. This year, it will be held on a separate day- Wednesday 16th December.

The fair will run from 2.30 pm until 4.30 pm. As always there will be games stalls organised and run by the Y6 children as part of a mini enterprise project. These games will cost approximately 20 baht each, so please send the children in with some money to spend. There will also be outside vendors selling their wares, which is always the perfect way to grab some gifts for your friends and family. Food vendors will set up in the canteen so you can grab a bite to eat and catch up with friends. It would be great to add to the festive feel by having families attend the fair together.

As it is generally a very popular event, we advise using public transport or parking at Suk 71 or Max Value. Additional shuttle vans will be in operation to return people to Max Value and Gateway after the Fair.

Christmas is the time of giving
In KS2, we are collecting presents to donate to the children at the Bangkok Refugee Centre (BRC). KS2 families can leave their gifts under the Christmas Tree in the School Office.

●The boxes could include: small toys, toiletries, books, underwear, etc.

●When you have filled and wrapped your box, please make sure it is clearly labelled.

●The label must include who it’s for - boy or girl - and which age group the box is suitable for.

●Boxes can be left under the Christmas tree in the School Office.

The last day to leave the donations is Wednesday 16th November

The Thai Department has also organised an unwanted cuddly toy collection. These toys which may have been left behind by your children will make an ideal gift for a child in the North or Northeast of Thailand.

Last Day of Term 1 Arrangements

On Friday 18th December, the last day of Term 1, school will finish early to start the festive holiday. The Y3 children will all have finished their lunch by 11.45 am and can be picked up at any time between then and 12.30 pm. The Y4-6 children will finish their lunch at 12.20 pm and can be picked up at 12.30 pm. If you would prefer to pick your child up before or during lunch, please notify your class teacher directly.

School buses will be ready to leave at 12.30 pm. We ask that the campus is cleared by 12.40 pm so that we can start preparing for some exciting work which is taking place over the holiday.
