I qualified as a teacher in 2010 and taught in South London for 3 years before moving to Beijing and teaching at Nord Anglia's British School of Beijing for 7 years. There I taught in Years 1 to 3 and was the Key Stage 1 Academic Leader and Maths Subject Leader. Whilst studying a Business and Finance degree at Southampton Solent University, I started volunteering in local primary schools as a teaching assistant, working with children and also mentoring older pupils in secondary schools across the borough. This led me to want to follow a path into teaching.
After gaining my PGCE qualification at Kingston University, I went on to teach at an outstanding primary school in South London. There I taught Year 4 for three years, was Maths Coordinator and took a Middle Leaders course as well as being a mentor to trainee teachers. Whilst teaching in the UK, I also completed my Master's in Education through Kingston University, studying the importance of peer coaching in children’s learning. It was whilst writing my dissertation that I decided that I wanted to teach abroad. I joined Nord Anglia's British School of Beijing, Sanlitun in August 2013 and worked there until the summer of 2020 where I held the positions of Maths Subject Leader and Key Stage 1 Academic Leader. During my seven years at the school I taught in Year 3 for two years, Year 2 for four years and in my final year I taught Year 1. I first visited St Andrews in April 2019 and was immediately impressed by the warm welcome I received from the pupils and staff, its commitment to learning for all pupils and its community feel.
I joined the school in August 2020 as Year 3 Leader and thoroughly enjoyed my first year at the school. I am looking forward to another teaching in Year 3. Outside of school I enjoy working out at the gym and exploring different cultures, foods and traditions. A keen traveller, I have been fortunate to visit many amazing places around the world, many of them in Asia. Aside from working out, I also enjoy live music and photography. St Andrews is unique because it is a truly international and inclusive school where all pupils and staff are encouraged to be personally, socially and academically ambitious.
