We invite the entire BISC community to join us on Wednesday, October 16th for a food packing event, where we will help serve and deliver meals to malnourished children and their families.
Servants With a Heart is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that helps sponsoring organizations create highly nutritious, vitamin-fortified, dehydrated soy-rice meals to be transported to starving children in poverty-stricken countries like Nicaragua. In addition, about 15% of the meals we ‘pack’ will be delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank and other local/Charlotte charities.
Every age group, beginning at Foundation Stage, will play a role during the food packing event to help feed the hungry among us.
...But we need your help!
We are in need of parent volunteers – namely, strong-abled bodies to help lift approximately 50-pound bags – for the following shifts: Set Up (8:00-10:00 AM) and Clean Up (2:30-3:30 PM). If you are able to help serve, please either visit the SignUpGenius link in our latest e-mail newsletter, or stop by the front desk to add your name and selected shift to the Volunteer Sign-Up sheet.
We are also requesting donations on behalf of Servants with a Heart to aid their efforts in feeding approximately 80,000 children per week. Interested in donating to the cause? Please visit http://bit.ly/biscdonate or see Mianna at the front desk to drop off a check (no donation is too small!). We will also be accepting check donations during the packing event on October 16th.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Together, we, the BISC community, can make an impact in the fight to end world hunger.
