The British International School of Charlotte is one of the finest IB schools in North Carolina. We prepare our Year 12 (Grade 11) and Year 13 (Grade 12) students for what comes next through the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme leading to the receipt of a prestigious qualification that is highly regarded by top colleges and universities worldwide. The IBDP focuses on building critical thinkers who are extremely prepared for higher education and to succeed at life in a global society.
During the two-year course of study, students partake in 6 subjects, 3 taken at higher level and 3 at standard level. These courses consist of a literature-based language course, a conversational-based second language course, a social science, a physical/biological science, a maths course, and an elective course.
Students will also complete 3 additional core components to include Theory of Knowledge, an extended essay, and CAS (Creativity, Action & Service) to develop well rounded, international individuals, who will thrive throughout the rest of their lives.
The impact of being part of an international school
The IB Diploma Program encourages students to ask challenging questions, learn how to learn, develop a strong sense of their own identity and culture, and develop the ability to communicate with and understand people from other countries and cultures. With over 60 different nationalities, an experienced international staff, a global network of peers, and highly personalized learning, the British School of Charlotte is an ideal choice for students interested in the IB Diploma.
Global networking and enhancement opportunities
As a Nord Anglia Education school, we are part of a global family of schools across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Belonging to a global network opens up unique opportunities for our students to work on international projects and collaborate with peers around the world.

Preparing for university and college admissions
We partner with our sister school The British International School of Houston to offer college counseling for students in years 12 and 13 to thoroughly prepare them for entry in to universities and colleges throughout the world. Our college counselor has extensive knowledge of the entry requirements and procedures for private and public US and Canadian schools and the different requirements of the UK and European universities.
