It has been a privilege to have spent the last 26 years of my life serving young people, their families and dedicated educational professionals. I began my professional life in High Schools, teaching students between the ages of 11 and 18 and helping shape the futures of aspirational individuals in the North of England. It was during this time that I first got the opportunity to lead others, taking on the role of Head of department.
Whilst this world was very exciting, the pull of the real world was strong and I took the opportunity in my later 20’s to travel the world. I liked it so much that I did it twice and, on my return, I took the chance to develop my experience by accepting a teaching position in a Primary (Elementary) school. It was here that I developed a real love of learning whilst exploring the wonders of Early Years Education. With my interest in leadership I soon moved through various leadership roles before successfully becoming the Vice Principal and then Principal: a position I have held for over 15 years.
My experience of teaching and leading in the different stages of education, from as young as 2 years of age and right through to 18 years of age, gives me a unique perspective on the educational journey that children go on as they make their way toward a successful life. I take great professional pride in having played my part in guiding hundreds of young people toward this goal.
I have always loved spending time with children, seeing the world from their perspective and sharing in the joy that comes from their discovery. I truly believe that it is possible to learn to do most things in life and, with the right level of guidance and the practising of skills, you can even get good at it. To this end, I love to try new things. Recently, my big passion has been in DIY and building furniture for around the house and garden. I equally have a passion for traveling and seeing new places, and being here in the US is a great platform from which to explore the world.
