Born in the tiny town of Ridgway, Pennsylvania, my family moved to Charlotte when I was six weeks old. I grew up in South Charlotte before moving to New York City for about six years where I worked as a make-up artist and expanded my career in restaurants and hotels. I loved meeting fascinating people from all over the world and learning about their experiences and cultures. I enjoyed navigating the ups and downs of the city and found a deep love for food and learning about everything unfamiliar to me. I thrive knowing that I have a lifetime of learning still ahead. Being part of a school that treasures quality education and diverse perspectives is incredibly valuable to me.
After enjoying seventeen years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, I decided to finish my college education and pursue a new career. I majored in History and graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My passion for education grew from my love of being a student, which was also when I realized how much I wanted to work with children. Following graduation, I immediately entered the teacher preparation program at UNCC, and completed a Graduate Certificate in Teaching Middle Grades Social Studies. After teaching 7th Grade Social Studies for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, I felt that my skills and collective experience would best serve a school community in an administrative capacity. Now I am thrilled to be a part of the administrative team at BISC!
Being an aunt has been the greatest joy of my life. I have three nieces, three nephews and one nephew arriving this Spring! I cherish time spent with family and friends playing games, laughing and telling stories, doing jigsaw puzzles, cooking, hiking, and a newfound excitement for playing Pickleball! Surrounded only by immediate family, including our beloved dog Barley, I married my hilarious and wonderful husband this past summer. We hope to resume international travel as soon as possible and are hoping for an adventurous honeymoon in Japan. Or we would be delighted to eat all the pasta in Italy. Wherever we go, exploring the world (and eating our way around) is our dream!
