Teaching had always been a career path that had interested me but it wasn’t until I was studying my degree course at university that I realised that this is what I wanted to do. During this time, I gained as much experience as I could, including visiting a local school and spending my summers working at summer camps both at home and abroad.
I was raised in a small town on the outskirts of Manchester, England before moving to Aberystwyth, Wales to complete my undergraduate degree in Film and Television Studies. After three enjoyable years in Wales, I took the plunge to start my teaching career and moved to Devon, England to complete my PGCE in Media Studies and it was during this time that developed a love for teaching English. Since then, I have returned to Manchester and worked in a number of roles such as Leader of Media/Film Studies, Head of Year and as a teacher of English.
I feel extremely lucky that I am able to work in a profession where I can build on my passion for Media, in particular, film. I am a huge fan of classic cinema and independent film, although I am more than happy to enjoy the Hollywood blockbusters on my frequent visits to the cinema.
I have an enthusiasm for travel and try to visit new places and experience new cultures as often as possible. I am fortunate enough to have been able to combine this passion for one of my others, sport, in particular soccer, by supporting my team as they play around Europe.
I am extremely excited about moving to Charlotte and working with such a friendly and welcoming team and looking forward to being part of the BISC family.
