Nikki Charlesworth

4th-5th Grade / Year 5-6 Teacher

My teaching career began in 2006 when I graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA (Hons) in History and decided to undertake a teaching degree in Primary Education. After qualifying in 2007, I worked in three very different schools in the UK. My first post was in a challenging urban school teaching Year 2 and then Year 6. This experience shaped my desire to dedicate my career to ensuring every single child has the best education possible. I then qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher, teaching and supporting teacher development across a range of schools in Birmingham, UK.

During my last five years in the UK, I was proud to be the Deputy Head Teacher of an outstanding school in Brentwood, Essex. I also simultaneously worked as an educational consultant, providing school development support and training across London and Essex.

I always dreamed of living in the USA and, in 2017, I was granted the opportunity to make the big move 'across the pond'. I have been privileged to have spent the last two years at Nord Anglia International School, New York; first, as a primary class teacher and, most recently, as Deputy Head Teacher. I have loved becoming part of the Nord Anglia family and experiencing everything that NYC has to offer.

Outside of school, I am a huge American sports fan, especially football. I enjoy writing and have tried my hand as an amateur football writer, once ending up on screen as a guest reporter for the New York Jets. My husband and I love traveling to different states to watch sports and eat good food, and we aim to visit all 50 eventually. I also enjoy running half marathons!

I am excited to be a part of the BISC team and community in Charlotte. I love Nord Anglia Education’s personalized approach to teaching and learning, as I am passionate about delivering the curriculum in exciting and engaging ways for all students, tailored in a way which allows each individual child to reach their full potential.
