As we move along towards our Chinese New Year celebrations, Sports at Léman is as busy as ever!
ACAMIS and CISA Tournaments
Recently, our U19 Basketball boys traveled to Wuxi to participate in the ACAMIS Basketball tournament. We figured it would be an exciting trip, but it turns out we had no idea how tense it would be. The team showed incredible toughness and resilience throughout the tournament, with 5 of their 6 matches being decided by one or two points! The Final was no different. After a tough first half, the team got serious and mounted an amazing comeback, leading to an opportunity to tie or take the lead with only ten seconds left. Unfortunately, the final shot would not fall, but our team could be proud of the amazing effort they put in. The team is already talking about next season and the improvements they can make. Congratulations go out to the whole team, particularly our seniors, Lucas Freund and Anthony Khoo for all their hard work. Gracious thanks to our great coach Tiffany Taylor for her commitment to the team. Although our Girls could not make this tournament, we would also like to thank Ms Felicia Dracz for all her work with her team as well.
This past Tuesday was the U15 CISA Volleyball tournament, hosted by QSI in our gym. Both our teams played very well and earned themselves a berth in the Finals. They gym was full of cheering staff and students as our volleyball teams sought to bring home the championship for Léman. Both games were back and forth and could have gone either way. Although our girls lost a close match to QSI, they played with a lot of heart and dedication and could have easily prevailed. The boys team had a similarly difficult match but were able to steel their nerves and come out with an exciting three set win against CDIS. Our teams are looking good as we prepare to host the Nord Anglia Global GamesU15 Volleyball competition after we return from holidays. Continuing thanks go out to our Girls’ coach Cheena Sotto and her assistant, Grade 11 student Henry Shin as well as the boys’ coaches Carina Corey and Victoria Robinson.
After the holiday, things won’t slow down at all. We will continue our swim training for the ACAMIS competition in Suzhou in March. We will continue our weekend sports offerings with the wildly popular Rugby Tots program on Saturdays and upcoming offerings from 5 Star Basketball and Barcelona Football.
Our Season 3 sports of U19 Soccer and U15 Basketball will begin on Monday February 25th and Tuesday February 26th.
We can’t wait more of the hard work, development and camaraderie brought on by Léman sports.
