Fujian Trip Year 6 & 7 - Updates 26 October 2019

Our groups of Year 6 & 7  arrived in Xiamen and met up with the Hutong staff. We then went to a local snack market called the "food palace" where the students could try many local foods (including soy sauce ice cream).

We then went to the beach where the Hutong staff got the students to role play a famous local tale of Zheng Chenggong (or as he is known locally "Koxinga"). Students played several games including an improv game, a relay race, a rock-paper- scissors-frisbee-dodgeball competition, and a sand art competition. Finally we ate dinner at an amazing Hakka food restaurant.

For many students this is the first time that they have been away from home for a long period of time. The Hutong staff and ourselves are emphasizing personal responsibility with the children. Focusing on not forgetting things and being prepared for the next step. I am just as impressed this year as I was last year with the professionalism of the Hutong staff. They are a great group of people!
