I am very proud of it. It is a very big achievement for me.

"Best in... Award" three consecutive years for students of the British School of Nanjing! BSN celebrates a hat-trick of outstanding IGCSE and A level awards that are awarded by the Cambridge and Pearson EdExcel Examination Boards to the most exceptional students of all.

BSN celebrates a hat-trick of outstanding IGCSE and A level awards that are awarded by the Cambridge and Pearson EdExcel Examination Boards to the most exceptional students of all.

Every year in August, we are always excited to receive our IGCSE and A level examination results and celebrate the successes of our students. However it is in September that we learn just how well our students have really done in comparison to all the entrants across the world. At BSN we create learning environments where students can excel and flourish and they are highly rewarded for their exceptional achievements as follows:

In 2017, our former head boy, Daniel Stapleton Torres was awarded the Cambridge ‘Best In China’ award for his performance in IGCSE Spanish as a Foreign Language. He is now studying Geography at the University of Newcastle in the UK.

In 2018, our former head girl, Ahhyun Jeong, was awarded the Pearson EdExcel ‘Best in China’ and ‘Best in Asia’ awards for her performance in International A Level Physics. She has just completed her first year studying Chemistry at Imperial College London.

And we are incredibly proud to announce that in 2019 Quinnie Tan, now in Year 11, has been awarded the Cambridge ‘Top in the World’ Award (Joint First Place) for IGCSE Foreign Language Mandarin Chinese!!

Given that Quinnie took this exam in Year 10 as an accelerated student in Mandarin, her achievement is even more impressive. We congratulate her and know that her family and BSN will be exceptionally proud when she receives her award directly on November 4th. In response to the question “How did you find out you had won this award?” Quinnie replied, “When I was told in assembly, in front of the senior school, it was a very big shock. I didn’t expect it because I knew that many people were taking that exam that year.” Forever humble and empathic towards others, when asked how it felt to have been awarded the joint top mark in the world, Quinnie explained “I am very proud of it. It is a very big achievement for me. I knew my percentage score but it was good to know that someone else had the same mark as me and therefore the same achievement as me.” We wish Quinnie all the very best with her remaining IGCSE examinations this year.
