Our School Day

Our students at BSN enjoy a busy day full of activities within a stimulating, safe and positive learning environment. This includes lessons and learning experiences in and out of the classroom, assemblies and tutor time, lunch and recreation and after school activities.

Class-based students in Early Years and Junior school have a full day with their class teacher and teaching assistant whilst specialist teachers take them for lessons in Mandarin, PE and Music. Senior students follow a comprehensive timetable delivered by specialist subject teachers.

Enrichment Lessons

The majority of our enrichment programme takes place during the school day but some activities such as sports fixtures or music lessons may be scheduled after school. Students will be given a list of options at the start of the year and they will be asked to make their selections. Enrichment activities may run for one term only or for the whole year.

Students up to Year 9 are asked to undertake two enrichment activities per week and students in Years 10 to 13 choose one enrichment activity per week. Early Years and Junior students take part in enrichment activities during the day in the classroom led by their teacher.

Using English in School

English is the first language of the school and we encourage it to be used as much as possible by all students. It is the one common language that all students will share and therefore has the capacity to unite. Students are therefore expected to be using English throughout the day.

School Buses

We run a safe and efficient bus service, with bus routes covering the major residential compounds of Nanjing. All bus routes are supervised by a bus monitor, and a comprehensive bus policy is in place to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the service.
