MA Chemistry

I was born in the North-East of England and lived there until leaving for university. I followed my passion and read Chemistry in Oxford, staying to complete my master’s degree. After university I worked in chemical industry, in Manchester, London and returning home again periodically. My hometown is not renowned for its chemical industry, so I decided to try my hand at teaching instead.

I came to China in 2018 taught science in Beijing, next I moved to Suzhou teaching Chemistry, and I’m delighted to arrive at the British School of Nanjing.

I’ve always believed in the power of the individual student, ‘velle est posse’ has been a personal motto mine, and it fits so well an education philosophy (‘Be Ambitious’) here.

I’ve found that Jiangsu is a beautiful place to live, and great for a big hobby of mine – exploring. On a typical weekend I might pick a place on the map, such as a traditional ancient town and cycle there, have lunch and walk around. Of course, as might be expected I also love to play football.
