Originally hailing from Ireland, I have been teaching abroad since 2006. During that time my teaching career has taken me from China to South Korea, Scotland, England, Malaysia and now back to China again. While I am primarily a History specialist, I have also taught multiple other subjects including Geography, Global Perspectives, English, Citizenship and PSHE. Most recently while teaching in Malaysia, I served as a head of department and successfully coached the school's team to Penang and Malaysian championship victories as well as a fourth place finish in the Asian finals in the International History Bowl competition.
Outside of school, I love to travel and explore different countries and cultures. I am especially interested in Eastern Europe and South-East Asia as both regions have complex and fascinating histories, as well as a vibrant blend of the traditional and modern in everyday life. I am also a bit of a cinephile and love seeing the latest releases on the big screen. When I am not exploring global geopolitics and cultures, I try to keep active by playing badminton, practising yoga (badly) and hiking.
