The purpose of the core is to broaden students' educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills.
Students may gain additional qualifications through specific options in the core programme (please discuss with the GEP Coordinator for further information).
They can choose to complete elements from the following pathways:
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Core – Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (ToK) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) – See above for further information
The International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) Core o Personal and professional skills - In this course the emphasis is on skills development for the workplace, as these are transferable and can be applied in a range of situations o Service Learning – In this research-based approach, students often undertake service initiatives related to topics studied previously in their academic disciplines, utilizing skills, understandings and values developed in these studies
o Reflective Project – Through a reflective project students identify, analyse, critically discuss and evaluate an ethical issue arising from their BTEC studies
o Language Development – Language development encourages students to improve their proficiency in a language other than their best language
