OUR HEALTH AND WELLNESS

NOURISHING WELL-BEING

The British International School of Houston recognises well-being as an important part of each student’s experience in and beyond the classroom. We strive to cultivate the whole child, strengthening their resilience alongside all their personal attributes, to build a firm foundation for their success – from the very beginning of their journey in the Early Years through Graduation Day and adult life beyond.

Through our Personal Social Health and Emotional (PSHE) curriculum at BIS Houston, students also explore topics like psychology, relationships, general health, emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills, and spiritual development, using interactions and demonstrations in their lessons and activities.

BIS Houston also hosts school-wide assemblies that encourage student agency, building students’ confidence through their voice and choice around a variety of topics.

PURPOSEFUL LEARNING

CREATING IMPACT

From a young age at the British International School of Houston, students discover that what they do matters and can make a positive impact in the life of another.

Through our inspiring Social Impact Programme on Global Campus, students learn about the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Using these sources of inspiration, students go on to participate in UNICEF’s Global Challenge, where they create solutions to some of the biggest issues facing the world today.

Students also participate in our ‘Share a Dream’ programme that focuses on social outreach activities and events from BIS Houston to beyond. These initiatives, alongside UNICEF’s Global Challenge, allow our students to apply their skills and talents as change makers who collaborate with peers around the world.
