Staff Profile: Russell Potepa

Russell Potepa

Head of Science

I began my career in Salford, UK after completing my first degree in Cardiff, my second degree in Manchester and completing my PGCE in Manchester. Since then I have worked in a range of educational settings including several institutions in the UK, a previous stint in Houston, and more recently in France. I have extensive experience of supporting IB learners in a range of roles, but most of all enjoy sharing with them my love of the living world and it’s intricate beauty. I decided to return to Houston as a result of my desire to return to the vibrant and exciting environment of the British International School as it moves through the next phase of it’s development.

Born and raised in the United Kingdom I’ve always enjoyed seeing new parts of the world and sharing experiences with others. In addition to keeping up to date with developments in the world of science I also ensure I’m always up to date with world politics and world news. In addition I love music and theatre and am often found at the theatre or the concert hall.

What the students say about me

My students describe me as “eccentric”, “supportive” and “someone who takes the time to help and advise me”.
