Carine Parks at the British International School of Houston

Head of Student Support Services

Hello everyone.  I am Carine Parks, and I am arriving in Houston from the UK, with my family.  I am coming to BIS Houston as the new Head of Student Support Services and look forward to working with you all.  Originally from South Africa, I have lived in the UK since qualifying at university in SA and have had the privilege of teaching in a variety of school settings, both in the private and public sectors. I have lived in Abu Dhabi, UAE for 5 years, where I managed SEND and EAL departments in large international schools.  With experience in leading SEND across three countries, I have found it fascinating to see how cultural influences affect how we approach SEND in different parts of the world. I am very excited to be joining BISH, especially considering how innovative and community orientated it seems to be. My family and I look forward to meeting you in person soon, and I can’t wait to share my experiences with you all and becoming a part of the BISH family.
