After graduating with a degree in Psychology, I completed a 1 year Postgraduate Certificate in Education. It was my intention to follow this path to become and Educational Psychologist but I fell in love with teaching. I taught in Primary schools in Scotland for a number of years before moving overseas. In Singapore, I worked within the Learning Support Department of another Nord Anglia school teaching children with a variety of specific learning difficulties within a small group setting. As a result, I have experience teaching children with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, Dyscalculia and Dyslexia.
I have completed a Diploma in Specialist Dyslexia Education in order to help young people with literacy difficulties and dyslexia become develop the skills to access all areas of the curriculum with confidence. Through this accredited course I am now able to deliver an individualised programme, specific to the needs of each learner. It is delivered in a highly structured, cumulative and multi-sensory way that promotes learner independence and maximises learning potential.
I moved to Houston with my husband and 3 children in 2017 after spending a number of years in Singapore and Australia. As a family, we love to travel and have taken the opportunity to explore each continent we have moved to. In particular, I love to experience diverse cultures and explore the food and unique sights every new destination has to offer but also look forward to every trip back home to Scotland.
