I am Certified Academic Language and Dyslexia Therapist and have worked as an educator since 2001. Teaching students with dyslexia and other language related needs is my passion and I am thrilled to be supporting the students of BISH. My career has allowed me to teach in North Carolina, California and Hawaii before choosing Texas as my home. I’ve recently married and moved from Austin to Houston.
Growing up in Florida, I was a soccer player which led to a soccer scholarship to college. After graduating from Barton College in North Carolina with a degree in Elementary Education, I earned a Master’s in Reading Education at East Carolina University. I began traveling and teaching throughout the US. My favorite spot was my home in Hawaii for 4 years where I taught young students and spent the rest of my time as an avid hiker and triathlete. With my family on the mainland, I was ready to come back to be closer to them. I began Orton Gillingham training with the International Dyslexia Association while in Hawaii and continued my training once I got to Austin. It was there where I earned my CALT and CDT accreditations and worked as a full-time therapist for amazing students with dyslexia for 4 years. I am a member of the International Dyslexia Association and The Academic Language Therapy Association.
This school is different to all other schools I have worked at because…
There is something extremely special about the students and staff of BISH. The fact that there are students and teachers from all over the world gathered in one place to learn and grow makes this school the most exciting place I have ever worked. Travel experiences and a variety of cultures provides for an inspired education!
