School Therapist

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated from Texas A&M University Magna cum Laude with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and I earned my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Houston Clear Lake. During my graduate program, I completed a practicum at the clinic on campus and an internship year at Family Services of Greater Houston. I was a founding member of the Center for Postpartum Family Health, and I served on the board of the Houston Association for Marriage and Family Therapy for three years.

I developed a strong background working with anxiety, relationship concerns, new mothers, children, and adolescents. I also conducted support groups for residents with Alzheimer's at a local assisted living facility and provided Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for clients at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. When I moved to Katy, I became the Middle School Counselor at a Nord Anglia Education School assisting students from 5th through 8th grade, and I continued to maintain my private practice at LG Counseling.

My role as School Therapist for The British International School of Houston includes short term, solution focused counseling for social, emotional, and behavioral concerns. I conduct classroom observation, peer mediation, and collaborative meetings with parents and teachers for the benefit of the students. My approach is collaborative, integrative, and solution focused. I provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for a wide variety of issues and life challenges that our students may face.

I was born in Houston, TX, and I now live in Katy with my husband and our labrador-schnauzer mix puppy, Shadow. I enjoy watching movies and spending time with friends and family. I also love cooking and trying new cuisines.

This school is different to all others I've worked at because...

I have the honor and challenge of being the first School Therapist at The British International School of Houston. I am excited to have this opportunity to create and grow this position at such an amazing school.  I am also intrigued and impressed by the pastoral care and the involvement that the staff have in the overall wellbeing of the students. I love that we work collaboratively to assist the students in their mental, emotional, and social wellbeing.
