Having always had a passion for teaching, I trained as an elementary teacher in 2004 in California during a posting there. I then returned to Scotland and spent several years teaching as a long-term supply teacher in various schools; the most recent being a post in a Learning Support Department. It was after that I realised I wanted to help children overcome the struggles of dyslexia. Back in the U.S. now, I have completed training to be a dyslexia practitioner and am now supporting students here at the British International School of Houston and am teaching them the skills they need to improve their reading fluency, spelling and comprehension. Working with these children and seeing them progress is such a fulfilling role and I can genuinely say I love my job!
