Kim Barry

British International School of Houston

Early Years Teacher

I began my career in Early Years over twenty years ago in a small nursery in Cheshire. After competing my teaching degree I worked in one of our Nord Anglia schools in Doha and loved the diverse backgrounds of the children I had the pleasure to teach. When the opportunity arose for me to come to Houston I jumped at the chance and have not been disappointed.

Our facilities are amazing! The staff and our school community, have made me feel welcome and part of a large family. I am excited to be working in Early Years 2 again this year and am looking forward to developing our curriculum links, along with my colleagues, so the transition to Year 1 will become an even smoother one.

I moved to Houston two years ago and despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic, have come to think of it as home. I love exploring new places and have enjoyed a few road trips, including one to a ranch in McGregor where I had the privilege of being licked by a giraffe and nearly bowled over by a very enthusiastic young camel. I am very pleased to say that my dog arrived here safely last year after a very long flight and I am enjoying my early morning walks with her before the heat of the day sets in. I like to spend time with my husband and daughter and all of us enjoy BBQs and relaxing by the pool.
