I am from Newcastle, in the North East of England. My husband Jon and I are huge sports fans, we enjoy participating and spectating a range of sports and activities. I am an ex-international gymnast and Jon was a semi-professional soccer player. I am a qualified gymnastics coach and enjoy Yoga and travelling in my spare time. I like to visit art galleries in different countries, one of my favourite galleries is the Hundertwasser museum in Vienna. My ambition is to visit all 7 Wonders of the Modern World; our next stop is Machu Picchu, in Peru.
I achieved a BA Honours degree in Art and Design, before completing a PGCE with QTS in Primary Education from Nottingham University. Since then, I have taught in the Early Years and Primary phases of schooling in the UK and the UAE, taking on various leadership roles, including Assistant Principal. I decided to join the BISH team to embark on a new international challenge, to become part of the culture, community and athletic ethos, as well as having the opportunity to teach another diverse group of children.
I have a passion for using Art to influence other areas of the curriculum; a subject which I researched and wrote about extensively in my dissertation to achieve my Master’s degree in Education. Pedagogically, I believe that all students can achieve their potential with the right guidance and support, not all achievements are gained in the classroom. Therefore, as educators we need to equip our students with a rounded set of 21st century learning skills that they can take with them for life beyond BISH.
