I completed my teaching degree at the University of Warwick. Over the course of my career, I have had experience of teaching all year groups in both Key Stage 1 and 2, including Reception and have had the pleasure of teaching at a large infant school and a small village church school, in Reading and Lincoln. During this time, I have taken on the roles of Subject Coordinator for Humanities and Modern Foreign Languages as well as Special Needs Coordinator and leading the School Council.
Following our move to Houston for my husband’s job, an opportunity to join the British International school of Houston team presented itself. This is my sixth year teaching at our school. During this time I have enjoyed teaching Years 1 & 2, as well as the role of Leader of Learing of Key Stage 1 for three years. I am currently Assessment and Learning Datat Manager for Primary.
Since losing my mum, my outlook on life has changed completely. I make the most of spending time with the people who matter most in my life and accept any opportunities which come my way. As mum to my beautiful baby girl, I have a new perspective of my job and the children in my care. During my spare time, I research and spend time on home improvement projects. I enjoy travelling and experiencing different cultures, especially food! I enjoy all Houston has to offer and love the Texan lifestyle.
What the students say about me...
“We have lots of fun.”
“We get to do lots of Science experiments in her class.”
This school is different to all others I have worked at because…
I love the diverse international community of our school. The children, even at 5 years old, bring a wealth of knowledge to the classroom. The best thing about being a school for students aged 3-18 is working together. It is wonderful to step back and observe the mutual respect and admiration between the Primary and Secondary students.
