After completing my Bachelor's degree in Primary Education I was fortunate enough to experience teaching and develop my practice in outstanding schools in both Qatar and West London. In 2016, I was ready for a new challenge and after seeing the incredible campus (which was then still under construction!) and reading about our school's ethos and educational philosophy I knew I had to take the opportunity to be a part of our wonderful school community!

I started my teaching career in Scotland in my home town of East Kilbride just south of Glasgow. After my first year of teaching I moved to the Middle East and spent 3 wonderful years at an international school in Qatar, which taught the British curriculum. I worked with a very supportive team, which had a huge impact on the teacher I am today. After leaving Qatar, I worked for 5 years at an IB school in Cologne, Germany. This was a fantastic experience as it allowed me to work within a different curriculum and a new way of teaching. When I felt it was time to leave Germany, I had my heart set on The British International School of Houston and I still feel very lucky to be able to teach here. After speaking to the management team, I knew that the school would compliment my teaching style and I would be able to bring what I had learned from the different curricula I had taught. BISHouston has a wonderful community and I feel very lucky to be a part of it.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lone Star College. I decided to take a break from school to have more time to dedicate to my family. I have worked with students ranging from 3years - 14years of age. I knew working with kids was my passion when I began my first Preschool job! I have since then continued to work with students, whether it is educating them in English and Math or Life Skills. I work afternoons as a teacher in a Learning Center. I tutor students in Math and English, its an additional way for me to interact with students. There's no better feeling than knowing you've had an impact on a child's life!

This will be my 5th year at BIS Houston working as a Learning Support Assistant.  My first 3 years were spent working in Early Years and this will be my second year in Year 4.  I love working with all the children and seeing their progression through the year.  Many of the current year 4 cohort were students in EY2 in my first year working here, making this an extra special year.
