James Green

Year 4 Class Teacher

After graduating from the University of Strathclyde in 2007, I had my first year of teaching in a school in the outskirts of Glasgow. The following year I decided I wanted to see more of the world and I moved to Doha, Qatar. I spent 3 fantastic years at an international school there, where I met and learned from teachers who came from all over the world. Having endured the heat of the Middle East for 3 years I decided to move back to Europe and spent 5 years working at an IB school in Cologne, Germany. After making the difficult decision to leave Germany, it was an easy decision to join the British International School of Houston. After researching the school and speaking to the management team, it was obvious that this was the ideal school for me.

I come from a large, close family. I have two brothers, two sisters and eight nephews and nieces who are all excited about coming to America to visit me. I enjoy travelling and exploring new places and have seen a lot of Europe. North and South America are next on the list. I am very active and enjoy all kinds of sports so I am looking forward to watching and taking part in the sports on offer in Houston. I am a huge football (soccer) fan and play as much as I can. When leaving Germany it was a difficult day giving up my Bayern Munich season ticket.

What the students say about me

"Mr Green tells us really funny jokes and tells us lots of stories."

"Mr Green is a very nice teacher and he always makes me smile and laugh."

This school is different to all others I've worked at because...

There are many things that drew me to this school. My first impression was that BISH is more than just a school. It is a major part of the surrounding community and the children, staff and parents all support each other. The school invests in its teachers by offering the best resources, support and professional development to be able to give the children the best education possible.
