I started my teaching career in Scotland in my home town of East Kilbride just south of Glasgow. After my first year of teaching I moved to the Middle East and spent 3 wonderful years at an international school in Qatar, which taught the British curriculum. I worked with a very supportive team, which had a huge impact on the teacher I am today. After leaving Qatar, I worked for 5 years at an IB school in Cologne, Germany. This was a fantastic experience as it allowed me to work within a different curriculum and a new way of teaching. When I felt it was time to leave Germany, I had my heart set on The British International School of Houston and I still feel very lucky to be able to teach here. After speaking to the management team, I knew that the school would compliment my teaching style and I would be able to bring what I had learned from the different curricula I had taught. BISHouston has a wonderful community and I feel very lucky to be a part of it.
I love to travel and I've been lucky to have experienced some amazing places, difference cultures and some amazing food. When I'm not traveling during term-time, I enjoy being active by taking advantage of the school gym, going for runs and long walks in the park while listening to podcasts. I am a huge football fan and enjoy watching it and playing when I can.
