I am a creative and enthusiastic teacher with over a decade’s experience working in schools both in the UK and internationally. I studied at the Norwich school of Art and Design and The Cambridge School of Art and hold academic qualifications in Professional Illustration and The History of Art in the Twentieth Century.
I have extensive experience and training in many facets of art, design and technology as well as rich experience of practical pedagogy over a range of roles and subjects. My specialisms include Visual Art, Resistant Materials and Graphic Product Design.
After four enjoyable years teaching in the Middle East I am really thrilled to be swapping to Persian Gulf for the Gulf of Mexico.
I am a practical, creative person by nature and enjoy drawing, painting, reading and playing music amongst other things. I have been a freelance artist for many years and have been a performing musician for over two decades. My wife, Sian, who is also a qualified teacher, is taking time out to raise our two-year-old son.
What the students say about me...
“I look forward to form each morning because I know we will discuss global issues and have a good laugh.”
“Fun and enthusiastic, very encouraging and creative!”
“Mr Martin is open-minded, artistic and very funny!”
This School is different to all others I have worked at because…
I am delighted and excited to be joining one of the most pedagogically forward-thinking schools in the world. I enjoy Nord Anglia’s progressive approach to education and as an art teacher I love the focus on student-driven personalised learning. It is a pleasure to share the open plan Creative Arts department with like-minded, passionate professionals and I cannot wait to get started.
